Sea Launch Readies Thuraya-2 Launch

      Thuraya-2, the second satellite built by Boeing [NYSE:BA] for Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is set to launch June 10. The satellite will be lifted into geosynchronous orbit at 44 degrees East Longitude by Boeing’s Sea Launch venture aboard a Zenit-3SL rocket from the Odyssey Launch Platform. That platform will be positioned on the equator in the Pacific Ocean. The 44-minute launch window opens at 6:56 a.m. PDT (13:56:00 GMT).

      Thuraya-2 will be the eighth Boeing satellite lifted by Sea Launch, a multinational partnership headquartered in Long Beach, Calif. Sea Launch successfully orbited Thuraya-1 in October 2000.
