PACE UNVEIL NEW DIGITAL ADAPTER

By Staff Writer | May 23, 2001

Pace Micro Technology has taken the wraps off its low-cost digital TV adapter, which it has developed with its newly acquired French subsidiary Xcom Communications. The new adapter, known as the DTVA, can be used to deliver free-to-air or encrypted digital television services into non-subscription households, as well as digital TV to secondary televisions around the home. It was demonstrated ‘live’ for the first time at the Mediacast 2001 exhibition. Xcom’s sales & marketing director Patrick Rabu commented “various governments across Europe have already indicated targets for analogue switch-off, ranging from 2006 and 2007 for the British and Portuguese governments, to 2010 in France, Spain and Sweden. DTVA-style products created using the combined experience of Pace and Xcom, will become an important factor in the overall solution to achieve these aims.”
