GERMAN PAY-TV SERVICE EURO 1 DUE TO BE LICENSED

By Staff Writer | May 9, 2001

Euro 1, a pay-TV service for foreigners living in Germany, is close to receiving its long-awaited broadcast licence.

According to the local media authority of regional state Bremen, the channel, which mainly targets the large Turkish community, is due to be licensed at its next meeting on May 28.

The licence should have been issued at the most recent meeting at the end of April, however, documents needed, for example about the rights acquisition of live transmissions from the Turkish football league, were handed in too late.

Euro 1, based in Bremen, aims to show both entertainment and sports programmes.
