Gilat-To-Home Inc., the satellite-based, broadband Internet service provider, has named David Trachtenberg as its president and chief marketing officer. Trachtenberg, who recently joined Gilat-To-Home, was president and chief operating officer of Prodigy Communications Corp. [PRGY], a nationwide ISP.

At Prodigy, from late 1998 until recently, Trachtenberg was a member of the executive team that revived the moribund service, took it public in February 1999 and transformed it into the country’s largest, retail, DSL-based ISP.

Trachtenberg was responsible for launching the national “Are You a Prodigy?” brand awareness campaign, which featured Larry Bird and Aretha Franklin, and for extending the service to the small business market with the introduction of ProdigyBiz.

“I’m very excited to join the Gilat-To-Home team,” Trachtenberg said. “We have the first national technology platform and infrastructure for delivery of broadband Internet services.
