Viasat Broadcasting Secures NFL Transmission Rights Through 2017

[Satellite TODAY 02-22-12] Scandinavian satellite company Viasat Broadcasting has extended its live broadcasting rights to the National Football League (NFL) in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland until the end of the 2017 NFL season,
   The rights include live broadcast coverage on free- and pay-TV, as well as live simulcast for mobile phones and the Internet. Beginning with the 2012 NFL season, Viasat Broadcasting’s rights include regular season games and all post-season games including the Super Bowl. The company has broadcast the NFL in the Nordic region since 2006.
   “The NFL is a premium worldwide sports right and the Super Bowl is one of the most watched events of the sporting calendar. The sport has a loyal following in the Nordic region and we are delighted to have extended our successful five year partnership for another five years,” Viasat Broadcasting Head of Sports Peter Nörrelund said in a statement.
