Two international banking organizations have selected Comtech Telecommunications’ Heights Networking Platform to expand services across Africa via Intelsat’s wide beam and Epic C-band spot capacity. The banks will use the platform to address the increasing transaction volumes of corporate banking and mining customers.

Comtech has already shipped satellite hardware for this platform, which will begin operating on Intelsat 903 wide beam capacity with a transition planned onto Intelsat 35e, an Epic High Throughput Satellite (HTS) launched on July 5.

Each satellite network will connect offices and affiliates in more than 20 countries to central headquarters in Accra, Ghana and Dakar, Senegal. Equipped with H8 Remote Gateways at each remote site, Comtech will support banking and corporate applications at Internet Protocol (IP) rates of up to 8 Mbps to the central location.

According to Comtech, the banks selected the platform due to its mix of high throughput, high network efficiencies and overall network intelligence, as well as its minimal jitter and latency.
