Gazprom Space Systems and HorizonSat signed a contract for Yamal 402 satellite capacity use at CABSAT 2017 in Dubai.

HorizonSat will apply the leased capacity for providing Internet connectivity in the countries of central and eastern Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tanzania and other countries). According to Gazprom Space Systems, the southern beam of Yamal 402 satellite has good coverage of this region and cross-strap with the European beam allows use of the HorizonSat teleport in Munich connected to high-speed internet backbones.

Equinoxe Television Cameroun previously used Yamal 402 capacity to broadcast the Soccer 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon. Gazprom Space Systems also signed a contract with Gilat Satellite Networks last year to provide satcom services based on Gilat SkyEdge 2-c technology in Sub-Sahara Africa.
