RigNet Tapped for North Sea Remote Communications Contract

[Via Satellite 11-16-2016] An unnamed offshore drilling contractor has tapped RigNet for a multi-million dollar remote communications contract. The contract includes services for a new-build, ultra-high specification, jack-up rig with an international energy company operating on the Mariner project in the North Sea.
Rignet will equip the jack-up with Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and network technology for operating in the North Sea’s harsh environment. Rignet will also manage services through the company’s Global Network Operation Center (GNOC) for technical support, which will include installation, commission, monitoring and maintenance.
