[Via Satellite 08-08-2016] Avanti Communications has selected Gilat’s one-platform/multiple-application X-Architecture and its Mobile Edge Computing (MEC)-enabled Capricorn VSAT for use in supplying Mobile Network Operator (MNO) EE with satellite capacity for 4G cellular backhaul across the U.K.

Gilat’s MEC-enabled SkyEdge 2-c Capricorn enables MNOs to deliver LTE-over-satellite. With this network, EE will be able to provide dedicated voice, data and video services at high speeds using satellite backhaul. EE has the goal of covering 95 percent of the U.K. landmass with its network. Gilat VSATs are to be deployed at fixed and portable sites throughout the country later this year.
