[Via Satellite 08-24-2015] SpeedCast International has won a significant satellite services agreement with an energy sector customer to provide communications in more than 20 countries. The multi-year, multi-million dollar contract is one of SpeedCast’s largest ever in the energy sector. The company has assigned a dedicated team to oversee the project, which covers services both onshore and offshore in Africa and the Asia-Pacific. The communications solution will use SpeedCast’s global network and rely heavily on remote operations personnel in field offices.

“Over time, this customer has the potential to provide significant global growth to SpeedCast’s existing energy market share,” said Keith Johnson, SVP of energy at SpeedCast.

This announcement comes one month after SpeedCast acquired the assets and customer contracts from Australia-based NewSat, for which energy was a major focus. SpeedCast also acquired Hermes in March, a U.K.-based service provider to the energy sector globally, and Geolink in May, a France-based company active in the energy sector in Africa.
