Globalstar’s Botswana Gateway Goes Live, Starts Pan-African Coverage

[Via Satellite 06-26-2015] Globalstar’s gateway in Gaborone, Botswana has activated, enabling simplex coverage over the African continent. The new gateway, in partnership with Broadband Botswana Internet (BBi), provides Globalstar’s full line of simplex services, including its Spot portfolio of affordable tracking solutions.

Globalstar’s network enables infrastructure monitoring, leveraging Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications and the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) for professional, corporate and government users.

The company has been targeting a larger swath of customers outside of North America. With the new gateway complete, Globalstar is marketing to African customers in verticals including energy, mining, trucking, government, agriculture, animal preservation and to consumers, sportspeople and adventurers.
