[Via Satellite 04-02-2015] Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) renewed its master services agreement with network operator and service provider Mobil Satellite Technologies. The new agreement for the company’s support of marine satellite communications infrastructure and service stretches to 2018.

Mobil Satellite Technologies equipped 23 dredge vessels with SeaTel/Cobham stabilized marine antennas, and has three more installations scheduled for this year. GLDD vessels use the company’s connectivity solutions in the United States, South America, the Middle East, and Australia.

Dredge vessels, or dredgers, conduct excavations underwater, often to relocate sediment elsewhere. Vessels log data such as location, depth and how much shoreline is created and where for customers. Mobil Satellite Technologies provides satellite connectivity to upload this information, along with other services such as ordering supplies and communication with the company’s internal network.
