[Via Satellite 02-19-2015] In 2014, Spanish satellite telecommunications operator Hispasat saw flat revenues, reporting a total of $230 million — roughly equal to the $229 million made in the previous fiscal year. The operator sees the steady revenues as a positive development in light of a harsh Spanish economy alongside some negative developments, such as the anomaly discovered on the Amazonas 4A satellite, which decreased the satellite’s available capacity and delayed and the release into the market. Unfavorable exchange rates throughout the better part of the year and the downturn in demand in European markets, with capacity returns and price cuts, further complicated matters, according to Hispasat.

Despite downturns, the company expanded into the Latin American, Central American and North American markets over the last fiscal year, and generated revenue of $136 million through renting space capacity, a 9 percent increase on 2013 figures in this area. Hispasat was also able to make further capacity available on the market at 55.5 degrees west, as a result of an agreement with Intelsat.
