[Via Satellite 11-24-2014] Gilat Satellite Networks has received orders for its SkyEdge 2-c terminals from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) RDN in Italy, Europasat in the United Kingdom, and Switzerland’s Swisscom.

The ISPs plan to use the terminals to provide satellite broadband through SES’ Astra Connect Internet services for enterprise and consumer end users.

“The number of ISPs that have signed up for our Astra Connect service using Gilat and other equipment is gaining momentum and represents excellent opportunities for future growth,” said Patrick Biewer, managing director of SES Broadband Services.

Gilat’s SkyEdge 2-c system supports broadband services such as high-speed trunking, IPTV, Voice Over IP (VoIP) and others. The platform comes with self-install functionality and Virtual Network Operation (VNO) capabilities designed to assist ISPs in managing their customers.
