Gilat Demos 4G Handheld Performance with SkyEdge 2-c Capricorn VSAT

[Via Satellite 10-02-2014] Gilat Satellite Networks recently tested its SkyEdge 2-c Capricorn VSAT over a 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network with a tier-one Asian operator. During the test, Gilat’s 200Mbps Capricorn VSAT system provided accelerated and encrypted data in a single-session File Transfer Protocol (FTP) download. The end-to-end test met the handheld device maximum performance of 100Mbps.

“Our 200Mbps Capricorn VSAT solution, which combines 4G data acceleration and encryption over GTP, is an important industry milestone,” announced Erez Antebi, Gilat’s CEO. “In the trial, we successfully demonstrated our ability to overcome the satellite delay and proved that LTE handheld devices can reach their maximum potential speed.”
