[Via Satellite 06-26-2014] Yahsat, a United Arab Emirates (UAE) based satellite operator, announced the launch schedule of its third satellite for 2016 to extend the operator’s Ka-band coverage to 17 additional countries and 600 million users. With this third satellite, Yahsat projects it will become the world’s eighth largest operator in terms of revenue.

A subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company, Yahsat will also develop a new program for the Al Yah 3 satellite project, which will help students follow end-to-end the satellite manufacturing process and create additional career opportunities for young professionals. The Al Yah 3 will be an all Ka-band High Throughput Satellite (HTS), and will deliver broadband connectivity to more than 600 million users in Latin America and Africa. The satellite is expected to cover more than 95 percent of the population of Brazil.
