[Via Satellite 02-04-2014] Gilat Satellite Networks and Thaicom have announced the launch of the Ipstar service, which will enhance broadband connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region.

This launch is the next stage of a cooperation agreement to provide customers in the region with an integrated solution with Gilat’s SkyEdge 2 c VSAT satellite ground equipment and Thaicom 4’s (Ipstar) high throughput satellite (HTS).

The cooperation between these two companies reflects Thaicom’s Open Access Platform (OAP) strategy to provide technology equipment vendors access to its HTS.

“Gilat views this partnership as a key factor for growing its Asia-Pacific business. The cooperative endeavor, combining Gilat’s SkyEdge II-c platform with IPSTAR capacity, will provide our customers with an enriched broadband satellite service experience,” said Erez Antebi, CEO of Gilat.
