Comtech Receives DoubleTalk Carrier-In-Carrier Order in Asia-Pacific

By Jeffrey Hill | August 20, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 08-20-12] Comtech EF Data has received a $1.5 million DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression order from an unnamed telecommunications service provider in the Asia-Pacific region, the company confirmed Aug. 17.

Comtech said the service provider would utilize the technology to facilitate a network expansion and to deliver new services to rural villages and replace its fielded DMD50 universal satellite modems.
DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier, which based on Raytheon’s patented Adaptive Cancellation technology, allows transmit and receive carriers of a duplex link to share the same transponder space.
“With satellite bandwidth prices on the rise in Asia, service providers are seeking technology solutions to increase throughput and reduce operating expenses so they can remain competitive and continue offering affordable services,” Comtech said in a company statement.
