SkyNet Expands AIS Air Safety Service Deal with Bristow

[Satellite TODAY 08-17-12] SkyNet Satellite Communications has been awarded a contract extension from Bristow Group to centime providing air safety services with its expanded Aeronautical Information System (AIS) platform, SkyNet announced Aug. 16.

   SkyNet said it built its AIS offering with significant customer input from global helicopter operations managers, airline CEOs, fixed- and rotary-wing pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers. The solution incorporates real-time management of aircraft availability, flight plans, operational status, maintenance status, as well as providing defined alerts to designated smartphones.
   “Our commitment to safety and our Target Zero program means we are constantly looking for improvement opportunities. Standardizing our global flight management is another positive step in the delivery of excellent and safe services for our customers,” Bristow Group CIO Steve Sidney said in a statement.
