Sagetech Wins ADS-B Technology Subcontract to Support Aireon Payloads

[Satellite TODAY 08-17-12] Harris Corp. has issued a subcontract to Sagetech to support its effort to provide integrated Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) payloads for Iridium’s Aireon air traffic management entity, Sagetech announced Aug. 16.

Aireon will be hosted on Iridium’s second-generation satellite constellation Iridium NEXT, which is set to commence launching in 2015. Harris will provide space-qualified ADS-B receivers to fly as hosted payloads on Iridium NEXT. Sagetech will deliver the ADS-B signal processing technology for each of the receivers. Sagetech also will deliver the firmware licenses that decode the ADS-B messages from aircraft.
“We are thrilled that Sagetech has been selected by Harris to play an important role in the development of hosted payload receivers for Aireon,” Sagetech President Kelvin Scribner said in a statement. “Sagetech’s expertise in ADS-B technology positions us to be an important asset on this project.”
Financial details of the subcontract were not disclosed.
