Harris Inks High-Throughput Satellite Hardware Deal with SS/L

[Satellite TODAY 08-16-12] Harris Corp. has been awarded a contract to supply reflector deployment booms to Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) for use on two unnamed high-throughput communications satellites, Harris announced Aug. 15.
Harris has supplied deployment booms and unfurlable mesh reflectors to SS/L in the past to support successful deployment and operation of satellites that supply mobile voice, data and video services around the world. Harris Government Communications Systems Vice President of Aerospace Systems Bill Gattle said that his company’s deployable booms have a 100 percent on-orbit success rate.
“The award of this contract for high-precision deployment structures and mechanisms continues our long-standing relationship with Space Systems/Loral and further affirms our commitment to providing value-added solutions for high-throughput satellite markets,” Gattle said in a statement.
