African Satellite Providers Partner with iDirect to Upgrade Enterprise Networks

[Satellite TODAY 05-18-12] African satellite network operator Q-Kon and ICT service provider Business Connexion have partnered with iDirect to deploy its iDX 3.1 software upgrade and Evolution X1 remotes, the companies announced May 17.

Q-Kon and Business Connexion said they would use the iDirect iDX 3.1 to enhance their services for enterprise customers and scale their iDirect networks to a greater number of sites.
The iDX 3.1 unit includes a 16-channel licensing option for iDirect’s Evolution XLC-M line card that aims to provide an ideal solution for large networks featuring one large outbound and numerous small return channels when paired with the Evolution X1 remote. The iDirect remotes are designed for durability in difficult terrain and weather conditions to support sensor-management applications such as SCADA and environmental and surveillance monitoring.
“Large-scale networks are an important growth area for Q-Kon and iDX 3.1 coupled with the X1 remote bundle allows us and our partners to pursue these opportunities with confidence,” Q-Kon CEO Dawie De Wet said in a statement.
