[Satellite TODAY 05-03-12] Canadian satellite company Galaxy Broadband has introduced a new satellite-in-a-box system for the enterprise markets, the company announced May 2.

Galaxy Broadband’s Scout was designed as a quick-deploy satellite antenna system for customers requiring a rugged, easily transportable communication solution with simpler assembly and pointing procedures.
The service will be available with low-cost data plans and fully supported voice-over-IP service. The company said the unit would be specifically targeted to work on Galaxy’s Ka-band satellite coverage in Northern Canada.
“The mining and oil and gas exploration activities have been waiting for a low-cost, simple to use Enterprise Grade communication solution.” Galaxy Founder, President and CEO Rick Hodgkinson said in a statement. “Other applications for this unit are remote construction, disaster recovery, search and rescue or any aircraft supported remote sites that need data and voice-over-IP communications at an affordable cost.”
