Eutelsat Introduces NewsSpotter Mobile Service Via Ka-Sat

Satellite operator Eutelsat Communications has launched its NewsSpotter newsgathering service, which is provided by the company’s Skylogic affiliate and hosted on Eutelsat’s Ka-Sat satellite.

The compact NewsSpotter’s lightweight equipment provides the ability to transmit HS and/or SD live video from broadcasters in the field. The service was designed for fast transmission of film rushes and mobile proxy file transfers, offering native IP connectivity. NewsSpotter uses professional-grade Ka-Sat terminals developed by multiple manufacturers in three versions: Fly-Away, Vehicular Compact and Vehicular Rugged.

OnAir Launches In-Flight Service on TAP, Emirates Airlines

European airline TAP Portugal will offer in-flight connectivity on A330 flights between Europe and both North and South America when it launches OnAir’s inflight Wi-Fi service this year.

Passengers flying on TAP’s Airbus A330 transatlantic routes will be able to use Internet OnAir using Wi-Fi personal electronic devices such as iPhones, iPads, BlackBerrys and laptops. TAP said the service would soon be extended to A350 flights.
