Temasys, EMC Launch Enterprise HD Connect Satellite Service

    [Satellite TODAY 04-03-12] Temasys and Emerging Markets Communications (EMC) have partnered to rollout a “pay-as-you go” HD Connect satellite service to provide low-cost, HD enterprise connectivity to mobile devices, the companies announced April 2.

       The applications for EMC’s HD Connect are powered by Temasys’ Vidyo Cloud platform to reach oilrigs in the Pacific and maritime vessels and land locked remote mining facilities. The platforms include videoconferencing for medical personnel, engineering and operations support.

       “The combination of EMC’s HD Connect and Temasys Vidyo Cloud can show a 70 percent to 80 percent reduction in the cost of a VC network when compared with the use of legacy systems,” Temasys Managing Director Bill Lewis said in a statement. “The routing of this call was chosen to optimize the quality of the experience. The EMC Earth stations used were located in Miami and Hawaii and were connected to one of EMC’s Pacific VSAT satellites. We used our Singapore data center to authenticate the call and then used our California data center to host the call.”
