Winegard Introduces Custom Skids for Rugged VSAT Antennas

By Jeffrey Hill | March 15, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 03-15-12] Satellite and terrestrial antenna solutions developer Winegard has made custom-designed VSAT antenna skids available for its customers, the company announced March 11.

The skid-deployed VSAT antenna systems aim to speed up deployment and high-availability broadband connections in rugged environments. The skid acts as a protective barrier from damage, weather and other hazards and can operate in winds exceeding 50 mph and in temperatures of -40ËšF to 127ËšF.
“Skid-deployed antennas are in increasing demand because they can easily be transported from site to site as needed; enabling IT managers to allocate bandwidth as changes in demand occurs,” Winegard Director of Engineering and Business Development Jon Manley said in a statement. “Our skid-deployed antennas do not require a skilled technician to set up and deploy, thus offering the lowest total cost of deployment.”
