Winegard Releases New Ultra-Portable Flyaway VSAT Antennas to Market

By Jeffrey Hill | March 13, 2012

[Satellite TODAY 03-13-12] Satellite technology manufacturer Winegard has introduced two new airline-checkable 1.2-meter auto-acquire flyaway antennas as lightweight, real-time broadband solution for mobile users, the company announced March 12.

Winegard’s SFF120A and SPFx12A antennas weigh less than 88 pounds each and were designed to meet airline checkable luggage requirements for ultra-portable two-way communications at destinations that require airline travel.
The products also feature single-button operation without requiring an external PC. The controllers are rack-mountable, with a built-in DVB receiver and GPS that makes the Winegard product compatible with most platforms.
“At the end of the day, what makes this antenna so ideal is that it can be assembled and disassembled in just minutes without tools,” Winegard Director of Engineering and Business Development Jon Manley. “No more having to pay expensive freight costs to transport a large, bulky VSAT antenna. No more lengthy shipping lead times.”
