[Satellite TODAY 01-23-12] Australian listed satellite operator NewSat has signed new contracts across Australasia and the Middle East oil, gas, mining, construction, aviation and government sectors, the company confirmed Jan. 20.

The deals, totaling AU $7.5 million ($7.81 million), include: teleport services that were signed during the first half of the 2012 financial year; satellite communications for the Northwest shelf Wheatstone Project and Gorgon Projects off the Western Australia coast; a supply of satellite communications for U.S. government personnel in the Middle East; and a new contract with an unnamed engineering and construction company to provide satellite communications for remote construction sites across Australia.
NewSat said it would will its teleports in Perth and Adelaide to supply services to the Australian Department of Defense (DRSS) to support certified classified transmissions of vital government clients.
