Global Satellite USA Introduces Bluetooth Device for Mobile Satellite Phones

By Jeffrey Hill | September 7, 2011
[Satellite TODAY 09-07-11]Florida-based Global Satellite USA has unveiled a new Bluetooth-enabled device that is compatible with satellite phones, BGAN terminals and other mobile handsets, the company announced Sept. 6.
ISAT Shadow is compatible with the Inmarsat ISAT Pro and Iridium 9555 handsets. Global Satellite USA said the unit does not require cables or to be within in the line of sight of a satellite to achieve Bluetooth connection. The only requirement is that the two handsets be within 30 feet of each other.
“This is a really neat little handset that will easily fit into your pocket. You can be up to 30 feet away from the satellite phone to dial and receive calls. You can even make a call from your phonebook contacts. I have no doubt that anyone who purchases this device will enjoy using it and would make a great gift for the person who has everything,” Global Satellite USA President Martin Fierstone said in a statement.
