[Satellite TODAY 02-24-11] Vizada has launched its Pharostar proprietary VSAT fixed satellite communications service as part of its maritime broadband portfolio, the company announced Feb. 23.
The Pharostar VSAT service is based on iDirect technology to help meet increasing market demand for high-performance broadband connectivity at sea. The service provides standard IP data speeds of 1024 kbps for multiple applications such as Internet, e-mail and Voice over IP.
Pharostar also enables Vizada to match the dual requirements of many of its shipping company users by bundling the service with other services in its portfolio, such as Inmarsat FleetBroadband or Iridium OpenPort.
