Russian Business Communications Provider Leases NSS-9 Capacity from SES

[Satellite TODAY 11-25-10] Russian services provider VimpelCom has purchased C-band capacity from SES World Skies’ NSS-9 satellite, the operator announced Nov. 24.
    VimpelCom said 36MHz of C-band capacity and the satellite’s West Hemisphere beam will be utilized to meet the growing need for business communications capabilities throughout Russia and significantly increase the volume of these services in Russia’s Eastern Siberia and Far East.
    NSS-9 also will help to increase the capacity of VimpelCom’s Beeline satellite network on Russian satellites, and will provide for the active development of its mobile network in the regions using Russian Express satellites.
    Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
