[Satellite TODAY 10-28-10] Orbit Communication Systems received a $6.25 million order to provide multiple telemetry and communications systems to an unnamed customer, the company announced Oct. 27.
Orbit will supply digital tracking solutions and multiple advanced tracking antenna systems ranging from 2 to 10 meters and operating in L- and S-band frequencies. The contract includes service and training components and a future extended service option.
“We continue to meet the specific needs of our customers with advanced technologies featured in an increased selection of communications and tracking solutions and with superior levels of customer and product support. The growing tracking technologies field presents us with increased opportunities to continue broadening our market share in this area as well,” Orbit President and CEO Avi Cohen said in a statement.
The multiple telemetry and communications systems order is Orbit’s third in six months. The company recently supplied Lockheed Martin with a portable ground-based tracking system designed to track test flights as well as a stabilized system to track the Falcon 9 launch vehicle for SpaceX.
