[Satellite TODAY 06-23-10] MTN Satellite Communications and partners Jetstream and e3 Systems have been chosen by Blue Ocean Yacht Management (BOYM) to provide VSAT services for its 557-foot MY Eclipse racing yacht after sea trials, MTN announced June 21.
MTN also will provide VSAT services to a fleet of BOYM yachts. Four of the vessels will be equipped with C- and Ku-band antennas using DirectNet, a dedicated bandwidth service with committed information rates of 2 megabits per second (Mbps) with burstability up to 3 Mbps to support Internet, voice and data services, online trading, and IPTV using the Jetstream media hosting solution.
“We chose MTN for its robust global satellite network, guaranteed bandwidth and high quality of service. The MTN connectivity was fast and reliable, and enabled the yard, contractors, and owners’ representatives to send reports, access remote files, and enjoy television via The Jetstream,” BOYM said in a statement.
