Schlumberger Launches New VSAT Service for Offshore Industry

By Staff Writer | May 17, 2010

[Satellite TODAY 05-17-10] Schlumberger has launched a VSAT service for the offshore industry, the company announced May 13.
The service, SeaConnect, aims to provide VSAT services using a portable marine 60-centimeter C-band antenna and related technologies based on a fixed-fee unlimited data access.
Schlumberger said it has tested the SeaConnect service for six months on a number of vessels operating in Southeast Asia. The service now is available in Southeast Asia, and will expand to South Asia, Africa and Latin America in the coming months.
“With its high portability, mobility and small footprint, the SeaConnect service will enable connectivity to any type of offshore vessel or to any service company on a rig,” Schlumberger Spokesman Paul Khayat said in a statement.
