Orange Business Services Selects iDirect DVB-S2 for IP-based VPN
[Satellite TODAY 12-08-09] Orange Business Services has expanded its satellite network to include a DVB-S2 broadband service based on iDirect’s Evolution platform, iDirect announced Dec. 7.
Orange has integrated the iDirect satellite communications platform, including 16 iDirect hub,s stationed at eight teleports with Business VPN, Orange’s fully managed virtual private network (VPN) satellite service.
The iDirect upgrade aims to enable Orange to offer the same next-generation IP broadband service over satellite that it already provides terrestrially by using DVB-S2 technology to combat satellite bandwidth shortage in some areas of the world.
“Demand has dramatically increased for our global IP service over satellite as our customers look to integrate all their offices and users onto a common network, whether across rural bank branches or maritime vessels,” Orange Business Services Product Manager Michel Verbist said in a statement.
