KVH Activates Mini-VSAT Broadband in Australia, New Zealand

[Satellite TODAY 08-25-09] KVH Industries activated its mini-VSAT Broadband service in the Australian and New Zealand maritime region, following completion of satellite testing, the company announced Aug. 21.
KVH’s mini-VSAT activation aims to support broadband networks for both leisure boaters and commercial ships in the region.
   “The addition of live service for Australia and New Zealand moves us one step closer to our goal of offering a seamless global Ku-band broadband satellite communications network,” Brent Bruun, KVH’s vice president of sales and business development, said in a statement.
   KVH is partnered with ViaSat to offer Voice over IP phone and Internet service internationally through mini-VSAT. ViaSat markets the service under the Yonder brand to business and commercial aircraft.
