KVH Activates Maritime Mini-VSAT Broadband Service in Asia-Pacific

[Satellite TODAY 08-10-09] KVH Industries has activated its mini-VSAT Broadband service in the Asia-Pacific maritime region, the company announced Aug. 6.
    KVH is working in collaboration with Sky Perfect JSAT Corp., which is providing the service via the JCSat-1B satellite. Sky Perfect JSAT will include service coverage in the Indian Ocean in early 2010.
    KVH is pursuing hardware and broadband airtime sales in the Asia-Pacific maritime market with Sky Perfect JSAT, which has exclusive rights for sales to Japanese-flagged and Japanese-owned vessels.
    The activation in the Asia-Pacific is part of KVH’s joint effort with ViaSat to field a global Ku-band broadband network for maritime vessels.
