Thaicom Changes Name of Subsidiary

[Satellite Today 01-16-09] Thaicom has changed the name of one of its subsidiaries in Cambodia, the company announced Jan. 15.
    Cambodia Shinawatra Company Limited (CamShin), a subsidiary of Shenington Investments, has been renamed Mfone Company Limited (Mfone). Thaicom holds a 51 percent stake in Shenington Investments. Established in 1993, Mfone was granted a 35-year concession from the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia provide fixed-line telephone and mobile phone services.
    Thaicom said that the move was done to strengthen the established brand name Mfone, a mobile phone service provider in Cambodia. Mfone is the second largest mobile operator in Cambodia, with more than 900,000 subscribers and 700 base stations throughout the country.
