Hughes Launches Inter-Government Crisis Network Over Spaceway 3

By Staff Writer | January 12, 2009

[Satellite Today 01-12-09] Hughes Network Systems has launched its Inter-Government Crisis Network, the company announced Jan. 9.
The network enables government agencies to communicate securely in preparing for and responding to an emergency — a time when terrestrial networks are most vulnerable to failure. The service will operate over Hughes’ Spaceway 3 satellite.
“Leaders at all levels of government need to effectively communicate, coordinate and share critical information in the face of any emergency,” Pradman Kaul, CEO of Hughes, said in a statement. The network “provides the highly reliable, secure and robust communications networking that is essential to meet this requirement — regardless of the circumstances on the ground.”
