ViaSat, Lufthansa Technik Provide Broadband to Business Aircraft

[Satellite Today 10-06-08] ViaSat Inc. and Lufthansa Technik (LHT) have teamed up to offer a broadband IP networking and entertainment system for business aircraft, ViaSat announced Oct 6.
    The companies signed an agreement to work together to provide an integrated system combining the ViaSat mobile broadband satellite networking together with the LHT Nice cabin management and in-flight entertainment system. The end result, according to ViaSat, will be a complete IP network extension from the ground to networked devices in an aircraft.
    “The partnership with ViaSat enables us to provide true always connected Ethernet in-flight entertainment and cabin management to our business jet customers,” Andrew Muirhead, director of the Lufthansa Technik innovation business unit, said in a statement.
