MSV To Manage Municipal Emergency Talkgroups

[Satellite Today 09-25-08] Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) is cooperating with the Fairfax (Va.) County Office of Emergency Management and the Fairfax (Va.) County Department of Public Safety Communications to create and manage the South East Satellite Mutual Aid Radio Talkgroup (SE-SMART) operating on the MSV satellite communications network, the company announced Sept. 25.
    The departments will manage, monitor and approve participation in SE-SMART by federal, state, tribal, and local public safety agencies as well as appropriate private sector users with a public safety mission.
    MSV is working with national, state and local public safety agencies to establish SMART talkgroups in 42 states across the U.S., the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
