[Satellite Today – 6-20-08] Harris Corp. and VBrick Systems have partnered to create a combined solution that delivers digital signage and live streaming video over various communications networks, Harris announced June 20. Customers across the commercial, government and education markets can now use one system to deliver the companies’ combined digital signage and IP video streaming solutions to computer screens and digital signage displays.
"As the demand for both digital signage and online video communication increases, organizations will want to streamline the process with reliable solutions to help them not only capture video at the source, but also stream it live via the Internet and over digital signage networks to reach a broader audience," said Vince Graziani, chief executive officer of VBrick Systems Inc.
In separate news, Harris Corp. announced June 19 that the company has been selected for a potential seven-year, $58 million contract to provide the RF communications/navigation system for the next-generation space suit supporting NASA’s Constellation program. Harris is a member of the Oceaneering International Inc. team.
The primary goals of NASA’s Constellation Program are to maintain an American presence in low Earth orbit, to return to the moon for purposes of establishing an outpost, and to lay a foundation to explore Mars and beyond in the first half of the 21st century.
Under the new Constellation Space Suit System (CSSS) contract, Harris will supply a radiation-hardened, software-defined radio (SDR); a voice-only contingency radio; and low profile antennas. The SDR provides the flexibility and adaptability required to accommodate evolving voice and data networking requirements of future lunar missions with the goal of future-proofing the space suit’s communications system.
