Video, Value-Added Services Drive Eutelsat Revenue Gains

[Satellite Today – 5-15-08] Eutelsat Communications posted a revenue gain of 9 percent in the company’s 2008 third quarter, driven by growth in video applications and value-added services, Eutelsat announced May 15.
    Eutelsat reported revenues of 223.9 million euros ($346.1 million) in the three months that ended March 31, compared to revenues of 205.7 million euros ($317.9 million) in the same period a year ago. Video application revenues improved 11 percent to 164.9 million ($254.9 million), while value-added services revenue improved 13 percent to 9.7 million euros ($15 million).
    “Our performance continues to perfectly reflect a strategy combining growth, visibility and innovation, positioning us in the most attractive markets,” Giuliano Berretta, Eutelsat’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “The strong dynamic of video applications is reconfirmed by the almost 20 percent increase in the number of television channels broadcast by our satellites over one year. Video activity has also further consolidated our strong visibility on revenues, illustrated by long-term contracts.”
