Sirius Posts First Quarter Gains

[Satellite Today – 5-13-08] Sirius Satellite Radio reported a 33 percent jump in revenues in the first quarter of 2008 and cuts its net loss, the company announced May 12.
    Sirius posted a loss of $104.1 million in the 2008 first quarter, down from a loss of $144.7 million in the same period a year ago. Revenues improved from $204 million in the first three months of 2007 to $270.4 million in the 2008 first quarter.
    Sirius closed the quarter with 8.6 million subscribers, up 31 percent from 6.6 million subscribers at the end of first quarter 2007. Retail subscribers increased 10 percent in the first quarter to 4.6 million from 4.2 million.
