[Satellite Today – 4-14-08] Com Dev International Ltd. has been awarded a $1.2 million authorization to proceed to provide passive microwave components for a major commercial satellite, the company announced April 14.
The company expects the authorization to lead to a full contract with a total value of more than $6 million, with work to be completed at Com Dev’s Cambridge, Ontario facility by the end of 2008. The satellite is the third in a series, with the order being exercised by Com Dev’s customer as an option from an existing contract. The contract also provides the potential for two additional satellite orders to be exercised by 2010.
"We are pleased that our performance on the two earlier satellites has given our customer the confidence to place this additional order with us," said John Keating, CEO of Com Dev in a statement. "The global market for new commercial satellite orders remains robust, and having recently expanded our Cambridge production facility, we are ready to continue to be active participants."
