Mitec Provides VSAT Terminals To African Cellular Operator

[Satellite Today – 3-5-08] Mitec Telecom Inc. received a second order to provide a major cellular network operator in Africa with Mitec’s VSAT block upconverter, Mitec announced March 5.
    Mitec began deliveries on the first phase of an order  in January. Development and manufacturing will take place at Mitec’s Montreal facility as well as in Suzhou, China. Mitec also is in talks with the operator to provide mobile wireless infrastructure products to enable the build-out of the mobile subscriber network in the same regions.   
    "As we continue to leverage our relationships with cellular operators that have undertaken network expansion projects, we are seeing opportunities to provide solutions that combine products from both our satellite communication and mobile wireless infrastructure portfolios," Robert Mitchell, vice president of global marketing and sales, said in a statement.
