Canalsat Sees Steady Growth in 2007

[Satellite Today – 1-31-08] Canalsat, the French DTH platform, had more than 5.2 million subscribers at the end of December, its parent company Vivendi said Jan. 30. Vivendi owns 100 percent of the Canal+ Group, which runs the Canalsat platform. This was one of the highlights of Vivendi’s full-year results. Canalsat has increased its subscriber base by around 200,000 subscribers in 2007. Its churn figure is at 10 percent.
    France is a particularly competitive pay-TV market with IPTV through operators such as France Telecom, Free and Neuf Cegetel making a strong impact. France Telecom already has around one million IPTV subscribers making it one of the most successful telcos in Europe to date in terms of IPTV.
