Gilat To Supply Broadband Network For Bharti Airtel

[Satellite Today – 1-21-08] Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. received a contract to supply Bharti Airtel with a broadband satellite network, Gilat announced Jan. 21.
    Bharti, which has been a Gilat customer since 2001, will use the network, which includes 13,000 SkyEdge IP VSATs, to offer information and communications services for customers in India’s Gujarat State.
    “We are proud to have been chosen as Bharti Airtel’s technology partner for this significant project that will enable remote citizens in the state of Gujarat to benefit from information and e-governance services,” Erez Antebi, CEO of Gilat Network Systems, said in a statement. “The SkyEdge network, based on Gilat’s advanced VSAT technology and experience will enable Bharti to continue providing the highest possible level of customer service and support to its customers throughout the country."  
    Financial details of the contract were not released.
