Telefonos del Norte Selects iDirect For Broadband Service

[Satellite Today – 1-16-08] Teléfonos del Norte will use iDirect Inc.‘s satellite communications platform for its new broadband service, iDirect announced Jan. 15.
    The new service, which is aimed toward both consumers and businesses, will initially focus on Teléfonos del Norte’s customers in Guatemala, many in locations with inadequate terrestrial infrastructure.
    The network will be built on iDirect’s Series 15000 universal hub and Series 3100 remote routers and will feature VoIP and Internet access up to 2 megabits per second. Teléfonos del Norte plans to replace at least 80 percent of its existing satellite network with iDirect technology over the next year.
