SES Astra Continues Broadband Rollout

[Satellite Today – 1-15-08] SES Astra continues to sign contracts related to its Astra2Connect satellite broadband initiative, adding partners in France and Italy, the company announced Jan. 15.
    In France, the product will be distributed by communications service provider Auvea Ingénierie, an engineering and network installation specialist based in Toulouse. In Italy, the product will be marketed by broadband service provider Digitaria, an affiliate of the network and satellite service providers Netdish and Eurosatellite.
    SES Astra launched Astra2Connect in April and has distribution agreements in seven European countries. The future revenue secured by these contracts is about 165 million euros ($245 million) with more than 200,000 consumer terminals to be installed within three to five years.
